Text Box: Soil-plant interactions occur year round, but the biogeochemical balance of the interactions is highly dependent on climate factors that vary by season.  I explore how fall-winter and winter-spring transitions impact soil carbon efflux, and how vegetation and climate factors lead to variations in winter soil carbon balance.  I am using a combination of field and lab methods, including plot studies, incubations, isotope analyses, along a regional transect, focusing on plant-soil-atmosphere carbon transfers during the winter from the shortgrass prairie to the subalpine in South Central Wyoming.
