Research & work experience
• January to July 2006 Position: Project
coordinator for the Wildlife Conservation Society. Duties included: planning,
implementing and supervising conservation and research activities at three
contiguous reserves and surrounding private lands in NW Argentina, interaction
with government agencies, mining companies, and private landowners, designing
and implementing strategies for monitoring status of wildlife and effects of
conservation actions on wildlife populations, writing up reports and
coordinating activities of other staff members.
• 2004- Present Position: Principal investigator. Project: ”°Mortality factors
affecting sympatric populations of vicuñas and guanacos in the Argentinean Puna”±.
Funded by Idea Wild (USA), Lincoln Park Scott Neotropic Fund (USA), Rufford
Small Grants (UK), College of Arts and Sciences (University of Wyoming, USA),
and Denver Zoological Foundation (USA).
• 1999 to 2002 Position: Research assistant. Applied Ecology Center of Neuquén,
Neuquén Province, ARG. Collaborated with Dr. Andres J. Novaro in the project:
”°Ecology study of conflictive wildlife species present in Neuquén Province,
Argentina.”± Funded by the Argentinean Ministry of Agriculture.
• 1999 Position: Field and lab assistant in the project: ”°Multinational
Initiative to determine the status of the Andean Mountain cat and priorities for
its conservation (2nd stage).”± P.I.: Andres J. Novaro and Rebecca S. Walker.
Funded by the Wildlife Conservation Society.
• 1998 to 1999 Position: Principal investigator. La Plata Museum of Natural
History. Research Project: ”°Trophic and spatial relationships in two lizard
Assemblages in Northwestern Patagonia, Argentina”±. Funded by the National
University of La Plata.
• 1995 to 1996 Position: Principal investigator. Applied Ecology Center of
Neuquén, Neuquén Province, ARG. Research Project: ”°Ecology and Conservation of
the common hog-nosed skunk (Conepatus chinga, Mustelidae) in northwestern
Patagonia, Argentina.”± Funded by Lincoln Park Zoo and the Argentine Wildlife
Traders Association.
• 1994 Position: Field-assistant in ecological studies of the mountain vizcacha
(Lagidium viscacia). Project PI: S. Walker (Department of Wildlife &
Range Sciences, Florida University). Funded by the Lincoln Park Zoo and the
American Society of Mammalogists.
• 1994 Position: Field and lab assistant in ecological studies of the Culpeo
fox. Project PI: A.J. Novaro (Department of Wildlife & Range Sciences, Florida
University). Funded by the Wildlife Conservation Society and The Lincoln Park
Zoo.
